I love my town.

Yes, I have been in South Carolina in Greenville for only 3 years, but it has been the best 3 years of my life. I have new friends, a fun place to live, a great studio and as an empty-nester, I feel like I am 24 years old again and my life is all about me, my goals and where I want to go next. (my refrigerator stays full too)

Life is good.

And just this past week I got a lovely nod of approval from my town. Literally, in TOWN magazine. They feature the best of Greenville in art, food, culture and music.

Too cool.  Here is a link to the article-

Painter Christine Swann paints portraits that shines new light on her subjects

Moving to a new place where I didn’t know anyone, had no clients and no family was exhilarating, but scary too. Each week I felt was a climb up another rung on a ladder to let people know I am here, what I do and that I am a cool person! So this little rung was a fun one to climb. I also have 2 solo exhibitions set up for 2026 and 2027 and my commissions are getting more frequent. I am still planning on many fun painting trips in the next few years as well and I hope you will join me! My next big trip is to Sedona, AZ on March 1-5th. I am looking for 2 more artists to join me. Wouldn’t that be a great holiday gift to yourself? Contact me if you think so too.

But for now I am taking my annual end-of-the-year break from writing. I have new work all over my studio- some with promise, some that may die by the roadside- and I have my kids coming home soon too. I will meet the new year as I always do- full of ideas, ambitions and time at the easel. I hope your holidays are wonderful and I will be back in the New Year kicking up pastel dust and traveling to new places.  Hope you can join me.

Happy New Year!
