Lots of good stuff to share this week….
The Pastel Journal Magazine just came out and I am so happy to share that my painting, “Impact” has been included as an Honorable Mention in the Portrait category. This international competition publishes the top 100 images from entries all over the world in the medium of pastel. I am happy to say this is my 10th time being included in this competition.
I am also happy to share that I was asked to contribute my 4th article for the “5-MInute Coach” column. The article addresses some tips when dealing with painting children. And they may not be what you think….That article will be in the next issue so I will share it when it comes out.
Next, I wanted to give a big shout-out and congratulations to Barbara Jaenicke who won the Award of Excellence with her tiny 10″ x 8″ piece, “Riverside Glimmer at Dusk”
I am very proud to say I own the original! I invited Barbara to teach a workshop here in Pittsburgh last Fall at Sweetwater Center for the Arts. She had brought a bunch of small paintings to share and sell. Such gems! I just knew I had to have this one. It will forever enrich my life and I am so happy that I get to look at it every day. I literally just picked it up from the framer last week.
Lastly, the Artist Guild is meeting tonight! Our speaker is Pittsburgh artist, Ramon Riley, I hope you can join us tonight but if not it will be live-streamed on YouTube under Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Artist Guild. See you tonight!
It is very gratifying to belong to such an amazing community of artists. Being part of this magazine, this extended pastel community, having original art in my home from artist friends and gathering with local artists makes me very grateful and happy. It also charges me up to get back to the easel.
Thanks for letting me share!
Christine, I think the responses to this blog were deleted. I know I submitted a comment as well as several others, but they’re not here. Can you reload them?
hi Dot- A weird glitch with my website necessitated having to go back to an older version of my website. So I lost a few things included the last comments on the last blog. Sorry about that. I would love to hear your comment again.
Congratulations on 10. We know this was achieved through hard work, dedication and exploration.
One note in your blog about Jaenicke’s painting really resonates with me, “It will forever enrich my life.” There is no better reason for painting and collecting. Well said.
