Last week I was on Art School LIVE with Eric Rhoades. If you missed it, here is the link to the recording.

I had fun sharing so many things that go into building a likeness when creating a portrait. But In typical fashion, Murphys Law was in action. About an hour before I was to demonstrate and get on the platform for the interview I realized that I probably should paint my fingernails. I am not one to get my nails done since I am too hard on my hands and I typically just wind up getting paint on them anyway. But I painted them all pretty and pink. You guessed it- as I was finishing up my set up before the demo started I destroyed them. Oh well, I am an artist.
Then near the end of the interview Eric Rhodes lost his wifi and he disappeared. So I kept talking and talking (luckily I have the gift of gab) and then after about 10 minutes he got back on, but it kicked me off the platform so I never got to say goodbye, say thanks and tell everyone to sign up for my upcoming workshops….bummer. Technology….
So…..sign up for my upcoming workshops!!!!
I will be online this weekend from 9:30 until 4pm, August 10 and 11th. Over those 2 days artists will be building a portrait with me using my 5-layer technique while learning everything you need to know about light and creating realistic form. Light and color are connected- did you know? Learn about the LAW of light, the Rules of light and how to control the pastel medium to get it to do anything you want it to do. It has taken me 30 years to figure out these sticks, so let me show you what I have learned along the way. Register at [email protected].
And again, if you want to study the live model with me in person, I will be teaching my “Master Series” workshops in Pittsburgh, PA on August 23-25 and in Greenville, SC on September 14 and 15th.
Check out my workshop page for complete information on how to register for these master workshops. All levels welcome.
